Happy Canada Day: Volunteering at Kelowna Folkfest

Happy (belated) Canada Day! On July 1st, 1867, Canada was officially born, and we are very happy to celebrate this great nation’s birthday together! The festivities go on all day and range from fireworks, parades, and other fun events. There are so many ways to celebrate this special day – you can celebrate on a boat, in Canada’s capital city, at a festival, on a beach, on a mountain, at home with family.

Our VanWest Kelowna students and Elvia, our Career instructor, volunteered at the 46th annual Kelowna Folkfest to celebrate Canada’s birthday together! It is a community annual event that presents Canada’s cultural mosaic through culinary experiences. Our students participated in promoting multiculturalism and enjoyed interacting with the public! It was a great experience and the students got the Certificates of Appreciation, which are a wonderful addition to their career portfolios!
