VanWest students visited the Contemporary Art Gallery of Vancouver! They saw the work of Chinese artist who had dyslexia! The students were amazed by the works and thanks to the guided tour of the museum curator, we were able to understand!

Na última sexta-feira nós tivemos o Graduation Day para entregar os certificados para os alunos que concluíram seus cursos no final de abril. Este dia é sempre emocionante para todos, como sempre nós tivemos a performance dos alunos da sala do Kris (nível 5) cantando duas músicas, foi muito legal!!!! Este mês nós ainda tivemos a despedida da querida professora Dana, que está se mudando para Toronto. Ela estava conosco há 15 anos e vai deixar muitas saudades. O importante é que todos vão torcer muito para ela!!!! Boa sorte Dana!!!! Parabéns alunos que se graduaram, foi uma satisfação tê-los conosco!!!!!!

Ready for a fun filled summer? Are you ready for the ultimate English learning adventure!? This summer youth program is designed for students from 9 to 14 and it is a great chance to learn English whilst having fun!

In the morning from 8:45 am to 11:45 am – students will be in class learning English. Followed by lunch from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm. After that, the students will be enjoying fun activities shown below!

Long serving students of VanWest College has graduated! We had our graduation ceremony to congratulate, say good bye and wish the graduates luck!

VanWest College is planning another trip to Whistler! This time we are going up on April 20th for the Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival. We are going to spend 2 days “riping it up” on the slopes and enjoying a variety of shows, concerts and performances at Canada’s premier ski destination.
VanWestでは４月２０日から２泊でウィスラーに行くアクティビティを用意しています。今回は「スキー＆スノボフェスティバル」ということで、コンサートやパフォーマンスもあるそうです！スノボ好きのスタッフはすでに参加を決めていて楽しみにしています。カナダでも指折りのスキー場、ウィスラーへお友達を誘って参加してみませんか。カナダ生活の良い思い出になりますよ

VanWest students had a whale of a time at the Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver on Friday. The weather was beautiful and students were able to stroll around the Park and take some crazy pictures! After the stroll, the students went on to the Lonsdale Quay Market and had some amazing seafood for lunch!
It was a memorable day for all and I hope we do it again soon!

Mais um incrível final-de-semana com o pessoal da VanWest organizando e cuidando de tudo!!! Seattle é incrível e os alunos aproveitaram para passear pelos principais pontos turísticos (Space Needle, EMP – Museu do Rock, Hard Rock Café, etc…). Obviamente todos aproveitaram os fantásticos preços nos Outlets!!!! Difícil resistir a tantas marcas legais e com preços inacreditáveis!!!!!

When we first start learning English, we can see ourselves improving as the weeks go by. In fact, the whole life just becomes absolutely interesting as you realise that you understand what other people saying, what the signs are saying etc. But then, you reach a point in your learning career where you suddenly feel like you have not been improving for a few weeks. You feel like you are at the same level. You are suddenly…bored.
This, believe it or not is the most important phase of your learning career. You can see on the graph that I have provided for you here that from the beginning, students learn English quickly and efficiently, but as they reach a point in time, their English learning plateaus. It stays the same….what the hell eh?!?
This phase – called the plateau-ing- is where you really need to start pushing and pushing and pushing yourself to the next level. How? Simple. You start looking back at your class notes and you start going over your mistakes on your own. Then you start challenging yourself by listening to any of the news channels like the BBC, the local radio (you have to know what is happening around you), make it an aim to learn and use one word per day.
If you are feeling like this – do not get discouraged, do not give up – everything is going to be alright…just trust in yourself. Better late than never!

VanWest College Volleyball team Tryouts are today!! VanWest students will show their skills on the volleyball court as head coach “Jyoti Tronson” assesses their strengths and weaknesses. Volleyball training is very much like learning English. If you put in a little effort every day, you will notice a large improvement over time.
VanWest Collegeでは３月から毎週火曜日にバレーをしに行っています！
今日はVanWestバレーチームの初めての試合日！スタッフも含め１２名が参加予定です。
上手じゃないけどバレーが好きな生徒、以前経験のある生徒、背が高いからと誘われた生徒（笑）一致団結して挑んできます！
そして一汗書いた後は、海に浮かぶレストラン「Marine Pub」にて夜ごはん♪
スポーツは絆を深めるといいますが、それを英語で出来るって素敵ですよね！

Finalmente una giornata di radioso sole in Vancouver…quindi come perdere l opportunita’ di avere lezione nella magnifica e centrica spiaggia di English Bay?! Questa giornata e’ stata indimenticabile per i nostri studenti,poiche hanno potuto fare lezione assaporando l arrivo della primavera.
