Why English for Families at VanWest?

The program at VanWest College is for parents and children older than 5, and runs from 4 July 2017 to 1 September. Students can choose to study English between two and eight weeks during this period with homestay accommodation.

The English course provides 20 lessons of study per week. The younger children will receive a specialized course developed to be fun, interactive, and informative. The parents will join classes suited to their goals.

After lunch, they have the choice to join the after school activities, such as social, cultural, or sports, or discover the city on their own to explore the Canadian culture and practice their English. All of our teachers are experienced and strive to meet the needs of their classes. They work with texts, activities, and materials specifically tailored to improve the language skills of their students.

It’s a great opportunity to spend time together

Because of the busy schedules back home, families in particular sometimes do not have enough time to be together. Parents work, children study, and there are other pressures. In this program, we combine your studies with activities that bring people together as you explore Canadian culture and participate in various activities.

We focus on full immersion

Yes, it’s English Only! We require students to use English at all times while at school. Teachers and staff monitor this, so students know about the expectations. It greatly speeds the language learning process and helps build the necessary strategies for surviving in an English-only context.
