Instagram-Worthy Spots in Vancouver
Looking for that Instagram-worthy spot in Vancouver? We got you covered! Vancouver is a beautiful city with many sites that are worth snapping a pic. Of course, if this was your first time in the city you would’ve probably heard of the tourist spots. As great as they are nothing is better than a little insight from a local. Here are just a few spots we recommend you snap a shot of.
PARKS & RECREATION
Vancouver is one of the greenest cities you will ever visit. It is because of its appreciation of nature. Almost every major park in the city is considered Instagram-worthy. Yes, Stanley Park is an iconic location but may we suggest visiting Queen Elizabeth Park? It isn’t really a “secret” location but it is very easy to get to. The park is located between two Canada Line Skytrain stations: King Edward and Oakridge-41st.
This park has it all; gardens, art installments, and even a lookout point. Queen Elizabeth Park is truly worthy of a visit. If you want to improve your “IG” game you can also visit the Bloedel Conservatory at the top of the park. The conservatory is a domed aviary and greenhouse.
If you want to go somewhere even less popular but still get amazing shots we suggest Westminster Pier Park in New Westminster. Just take the Expo Line Skytrain to New Westminster Station and head to the pier. The whole quay is an awesome location because it also has lots of local restaurants to try.
CITYSCAPE
For the city enthusiasts out there we suggest exploring downtown Vancouver. From Granville Island to Granville Street, downtown Vancouver has many iconic areas. Don’t only go to Gastown, Yaletown, or False Creek but visit locations within the streets that connect these spots.
For instance, there is a hidden rooftop lounge area at the Vancouver Public Library downtown (Central Library). With its unique design and architecture, this somewhat hidden gem is definitely IG-worthy. The design of the library will create very unique angles, textures, and perspectives that are worth capturing. The best part of the rooftop is that access is free. You can enter and just head straight to the top!
An underrated spot is downtown Vancouver’s West End. You can start from the very vibrant Davie Village and head to Sunset Beach. This area is a mix of residential and commercial infrastructures. Many of the houses here were preserved as heritage homes which gives off an authentic Vancouver vibe. No matter what time you choose to capture some moments here, there is always an active atmosphere.
ONE WITH NATURE
The list of Instagram-worthy locations that involve mother nature in Vancouver is endless. When you are studying at VanWest College Vancouver you are literally just minutes from the water, the trees, and the mountains. So to make this quick we have listed one suggestion for each:
- Water – If you ask anyone they will probably recommend going to any of the beaches in the Lower Mainland. We want to suggest something different. Go take your social media presence to the next level at the Iona Jetty in Richmond, B.C. It is a strip of land that stretches into the pacific ocean right next to the airport. Get that epic shot with an airplane taking off behind you
- Trees – British Columbia is covered in trees. The city of Vancouver is no exception. We can suggest going on hikes on various trails or visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge but there are other places where you can get your nature fix. You can hop on the Evergreen Skytrain Line and visit Lafarge Lake Park in Coquitlam.
- Mountains – Lastly, a fun day trip is hiking up Quarry Rock and taking in the beautiful view of Buntzen Lake. This adventure will be filled with a lot of moments that need to go on the ‘Gram’. Starting from the Seabus ride to the ambiance of Lonsdale Quay to the stunning views you’ll see once you’re on top of the trek.
There you have it, just a few of the many Instagram-worthy spots in and around Vancouver. If you discover news make sure to tag us on the post!
