Halloween at VanWest

Halloween at VanWest is always a little spooky and a lot of fun. Students take part in a variety of activities and share their creativity with their costumes. So, they take home unique memories.

What is Halloween?

This unique holiday is not celebrated everywhere, but people in North America love to participate. Because of this, it’s a great chance for international students to let go and have fun! In October, the whole city of Vancouver comes alive with scary attractions. There are haunted houses, spooky train rides, ghost tours, and dozens of parties in community centres, bars, and clubs.

Halloween at VanWest

Halloween is always a big event at VanWest. Students and staff are encouraged to wear costumes from very early. This is because it’s good to try to be creative without spending too much money. The school is decorated with bats, skulls, zombies, and anything spooky. Finally, the day of the party arrives!

Our Halloween activities start with a whole-school costume contest. The teachers show off their costumes first, and students vote for their favorite costume. After, students compete in three challenges: funniest costume, scariest costume, and the best costume. Each winner takes a prize for their efforts. Once the costume contest is finished, we all take a school picture – the weirdest one of the year!

Once the whole school activities end, students break off into groups for more activities. So, they can join pumpkin carving, a photo booth, a scary guess-what’s-in-the-box, candy guessing, and more. As students walk around the school, they take pictures with their classmates and fill out a passport for yet another chance to win a prize. And of course – they get their Halloween candy!

Every year, students immerse themselves in this kooky holiday with our teachers and staff. It is always memorable. If you are ever thinking of studying in Canada during the fall, do not forget – October 31st is a day you can’t miss!
