3 Things I Look Forward to in 2022
Hello, Happy New Year! Since the new year has come, I’ll write about what I look forward to and some resolutions that I have in 2022.
I am now on my last academic term and my co-op job placement is going to start in two months. After that, I’m going to go back to Japan and restart my University life there. For me, this year is very important because I will need to make many decisions about my future. Many new things are going to happen in 2022 that will help me improve overall. Below are three things I’m looking forward to this year.
CO-OP JOB PLACEMENT
As I mentioned earlier, my co-op job placement will start soon. Since I’m taking Business Management and volunteering as a Social Media Assistant, I’d like to put everything I’ve learned at VanWest College and my skill set to good use in my future job. I may face some challenges but I would like to see them as great opportunities to learn something new. I will never give up and always try my best.
EXPLORE CANADA
It has been almost 10 months since I came to study here in Canada. I wanted to travel to Yellowknife, NWT to see the northern lights during my first break but because of the pandemic, I could not. Besides that, there are still many places that I would like to visit in Canada. There is still a worry about how this covid situation will turn out, but I’m hopeful it is getting better. I am certain I can continue to have some more memorable experiences in Canada in 2022.
BEING MORE OPEN
One of the things that I have learned (about myself) is that how fluent I can speak English doesn’t matter when making friends. Rather, the more important quality when speaking English is confidence.
When I came here I didn’t have confidence in my English that I did not even talk to the workers at the stores. Since arriving, I have definitely changed. Speaking with coworkers and customers at my workplace is a lot easier now that I do not worry about making mistakes. After joining VanWest College’s Conversation Cafe, I made many new friends. This year, I have been more open to speaking to new people without hesitation. I even try to have small talk with the family living above me every time I see them.
There is definitely a lot to look forward to this year and what I mentioned above are just a few. To conclude, I would like to end with a bonus “thing” I am looking forward to and this…
RETURNING TO JAPAN
After I go back to Japan, I will start a new semester at University there. My plan is to apply what I have learned in Canada; from studying to job hunting (which are very important events for Japanese students) in Japan. I want to stay motivated to study and keep learning new things that will help me achieve my future goals.
Ever since I came to Canada, I have noticed the importance of my family. When I’m having some troubles, they give me good advice and support me. I will never take my family for granted and forget to thank them more than I used to.
Many aspects of my life, studies, and work will be changing a lot in 2022. Whatever happens, I’ll be thankful for every opportunity and all the people working with me.
Thank you, please stay safe and stay healthy.
