Our Recent Hiring Fair and Future Goals
At VanWest College, we are dedicated to helping our students succeed, both in and out of the classroom. My name is Seda Aydin, and as a co-op coordinator, I am passionate about helping students connect with real-world opportunities that pave the way for their future careers. Our recent hiring fair, held on May 29th, was a great example of this commitment, providing a fantastic opportunity for students to meet employers and explore exciting job opportunities.
The Hiring Fair
The hiring fair was a big hit, with over 30 students and prominent companies like JW Marriott, Paradies Lagardere, and Starbucks attending. The fair was buzzing with activity as students networked, handed out resumes, and had meaningful conversations with potential employers. This event offered students a great chance to connect with company professionals, hone their interview skills, and secure jobs.
We received lots of positive feedback from both students and employers. Students loved meeting industry leaders and learning about the job market, while employers enjoyed connecting with talented students ready to start their careers.
Because of this success, we are excited to announce that we will host hiring fairs more often. To make these events even better, we will tailor hiring fairs to specific programs. This means that the jobs at each fair will align closely with the students’ fields of study, ensuring they meet the right employers for their career paths.
Future Goals
We believe that these program-specific hiring fairs are essential in helping our students transition from education to employment. By working closely with industry partners and creating regular opportunities for engagement, we aim to enhance the co-op experience and support our students in reaching their career goals.
