Community Connections Course
Welcome to “Your Community Connections” course! In this course, you will be getting to know your community and how to become part of it.
Kelowna has so much to offer and no matter what your interests may be, there could be a place for you. Learning about your community and where you can make a difference to help shape its future can be rewarding for both you and the community. This week we are getting to know some of the history and landmarks of Kelowna and sharing information about each other’s city and culture.

- Volunteer placement is built into the course; no additional volunteer placement fee.
- Numerous field trips to various businesses and volunteer organizations in Kelowna city.
- Speed up your English skills through class work and volunteer placement outside the school.

Course Timetable & Key Content

• Improve language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing • Learn about both academic and everyday English• Get teachers’ feedback and check students’ progress with weekly assessment • Get personalized help from friendly teachers and staff |
12:50 – 14:45 |
Community Connection (Level 4 +) |
• (Bi-)weekly field trips around Kelowna businesses and cultural spots
• Learn about volunteering and volunteer etiquette • Learn job search strategies and explore local job markets • Write an English resume and cover letter • Learn to give an effective interview and discuss common interview errors • Apply all the skills students have learned to attain volunteer position |

* These suggested dates apply only to the afternoon class, Community Connection. They do not apply to General English or EAP, which start every Monday.
